Route 1, Box 2550 Encinitos, California Subject: Project No. 65-3-l 9D Final Report on Compacted Filled Ground Swimming Pool Areos Between Conduninium Sites B and E, and Between Condcminium Sites C and D, ond Reor Portions of L Gentlemen: This is to report the results of tests and observations made in order to inspect the ccmpaction of filled ground placed on certain portions of the swimming pool oreos between Condominium sites B and E, between Condominium sites C and D, and on rear pations of Lots 45 ond 46, Lo Costa Volley Unit No. 1, San Diego County, Colifomio. The fil Is were placed during the period between March 1, 1965 and March 8, 1965. The approximate areas and depths of filled ground placed under our inspection, in accordance with the approved specifications, ore shown on the attached Drawing No. 1, entitled, “Location of Compacted Filled Ground. ” The grading plan used fa the placement of filled ground was prepared by Edward H. Fickett, A. I.A., Architect. The approximate locations at which the tests were taken and the final test results are presented on page 3 under the “Table of Test Results. ” The lobaatory determinations of the maximum dry densities and optimum moisture contents cf the major fill materials ore presented on page 4 under “Laboratory Test Results. ” The tests were taken on the dotes indicated below: Test Number Dote 1 to 4, inclusive March 1, 1965 5 to 7, inclusive March 3, 1965 8 to 12, inclusive March 4, 1965 13 to 17, inclusive March 8, 1965 SlOlO .16.29 - - - Project No. 65-3-19D Lo Costa Volley Unit No. 1 -2- May 6, 1965 The final results of tests and cbservotions indicate that the compacted filled grwnd has been placed at 90 percent of the maximum dry density or greoter. It has been determined that the fill materials, compacted to 90 percent of the maximum dry density, hove o safe bearing value of at least 1050 pounds per square foot for one foot wide continuous footings founded ot o minimum depth and placed five feet or mere inside the top of compacted filled ground slcpes. If footings ore placed closer to the exposed slopes than 5 feet inside the top of compacted filled ground slopes, these shwld be deepened one foot below o 1 l/2 haizontol to 1 vertical I ine projected outward and downward from o point 5 feet horizcntal I y inside the top. of com- pacted filled ground slopes. Tests indicate that the ccmpacted filled ground is odequote to satisfactorily support the proposed one-story wood-frame dwellings without detrimental settlements.
