In accordance with yoiu" request, we have prepared this letter summarizing the as-graded geotechnical conditions of lots 9 through 15 of Carlsbad Ranch Unit 2 located in Carlsbad, Califomia. Rough-grading of the subject lots is essentially complete resulting in relatively level sheet graded pads and roadways. All rough-grading was performed under the observation and testing services of Leighton and Associates, Inc., (Leighton), and in accordance with the recommendations provided in the above referenced report, the City of Carlsbad requirements, and reconunendations made during the course of grading operations. This grading essentially completes the rough-grading for the R&D Lots at Carlsbad Ranch. All fills placed during this phase of gradmg have been uniformly compacted to a minimum of 90 percent relative compaction as determined by ASTM Test Mthod D1557-91. Prior to the placement of compacted fill soils, removals of potentially compressible soils (topsoil, colluvium, weathered Terrace Deposits) were performed. Site grading did not include the overexcavation of transitions (cut\fill) areas as the locations of proposed building(s) was imknovra at this time. In general, the subject lots have been graded in accordance with the currently accepted standards and are suitable to receive the proposed improvements. We recommend that site building and site grading plans be reviewed by this office to provide additional geotechnical recommendations on a lot specific basis. 3934 MURPHY CANYON ROAD, SUITE B205 SAN DIEGO, CA 92 1 23-4425 (619) 292-8030 • FAX (619) 292-0771 We are currently in the process of preparing the fmal as-graded report for the project which will be issued shortly.
