ESCONDIDO, CAUF. 92025 ESCONDIDO-746-2333 OCEANSIDE-722-2125 Mr. O.G. Parker 1092 Chinquapin Avenue Carlsbad, California Subject: Final Clearance Report on Compactt!d Fill Ground Dear Mr. Parker: Re: Job No. 68-33 Portion of Lot 237, Thum Lands, Map li81, Carlsbad, California San Diego County . At your request, we have inspected and tested the fill ground placed on the reference property. It is our understanding proposed two-story apartments are to be con- structed on the site. A portion of the area filled under our control contained fill ground. The fill was placed in June 1964, and was tested by H. V. Lawmaster and Co., Inc. H. V. Lawmaster’s report stated, “The fill was compacted to at least 90% of maximum dry density. A safe bearing value of 1000 psf. may be used for the compacted fill belovi continuous footings embedded at least twelve (12) inches below finished grade for one story structures and eighteen (18) inches below finished grade for two story structures”. All grass and other rubbish was removed from the-area to be filled. The native ground was then scarified, watered and rolled with a sheepsfoot compactor, before fill was placed. The fill was placed in lifts approximateIy six inches in depth, and compacted. Field density tests were taken at finish grade elevation. All filled ground areas contained less than two feet of fill. The results of our observations, field density tests, and laboratory tests indicate the compacted fill ground has been placed at not less than 90% of maximum dry, density. No expansive material was encountered during the grading operation. The approximate areas of filled ground placed under our control and appryxi- mate locations of field density tests are shown on the enclosed Site Plan. The grading plan used was prepared by your company. 4-2-68 68-33 Page No. 2 ,/ The field density tests were performed in accordance with A. S. T. M. D1556- 58T, sand cone method.
