Dear Mr. Jacobs:
In accordance with your request, Southern California Soil and Testing, Inc., (SCS&T) has drilled
and tested three 4-inch diameter concrete cores from a cleanout box. The location of the cores
was determined by Jeff Hicks with Solid Structures SCS&T $ technician drilled thcores on
22003 and the three cores were tested on June 26, 2003.
The procedures of Uniform Building Code (UBC) Section 1905.6.4.3 and ASTM C42-99,
"Obtaining and Testing Drilled Cores and Sawed Beams of Concrete", were followed in the
drilling. In accordance with ASTM C42-99 paragraph 7.3.1, the cores were tested in a "dry
condition" after air-drying them for 14 days at a temperature of 16 to 270c and 60% relative
humidity. The compressive strengths of each core have been corrected for a height to diameter
ratio less than 1.94 but greater than 1.00. Test results are provided in the attached Table A.
