In the first phase of the study, I have determined the water-surface profiles of the channel for 100-yr floodplain and floodway, together with their respective boundaries. The proposed buildings on the south side of the channel are outside the floodway. The hydraulic information for the floodplain/floodway is tabulated below. It should be pointed out that the water-surface elevation for the floodway is within 1 foot of that for the floodplain at any cross section. Also, the computed velocities in the overbank areas are less than 6 feet per second. The finished building floors should be at elevations that are higher than the computed water- surface elevations of the floodplain or the floodway, whichever is higher Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this letter.
