Box 99961 San Diego, California 92169 Subject: Interim Report of Rough (Mass) Grading, APN 155-140-37/38-00, Jefferson Street at Las Flores, CDP 06-25, Drawing No. 458-3A, City of Carlsbad, San Diego County, California Dear Mr. Hagey: In accordance with your request and authorization, GeoSoils, Inc. (GSl) is presenting this interim report of rough grading. Grading and processing of original ground performed to date within the subject lot was observed and selectively tested by a representative of GSl during the earthwork phase of development for the subject property. Unless specifically superceded herein, the conclusions and recommendations in the referenced documents (see the Appendix) remain pertinent and applicable and should be appropriately implemented during project planning, design, and construction. Foundation design recommendations presented in GSI (2009a, 2009b, 2008a, 2008b, 2008d) are for preliminary planning purposes only. Actual site specific design will be based on as-built conditions at the completion of grading. Based on our observations and discussion with your field representatives, it is our understanding that the intent of the current phase of grading is to prepare the site per the grading plan (Sampo, 2009), winterize the site, and resume the remaining grading and building construction in 2010. Accordingly, regular maintenance and repair will be required. Additional maintenance and repairs should be performed after every significant storm event, since approved drainage is based on final finish grades. The work performed to date appears to be in general conformance with the recommendations contained in our referenced reports, as provided in the field during grading, and with the grading ordinance of the City of Carlsbad, California, from a geotechnical standpoint. Field testing generally indicates that fills-placed under the purview of this report, where tested, have been compacted to a minimum 90 -percent £ielative compaction. Site soil conditions may vary due to seasonal changes or other factors due to exposure: Again, regular maintenance will be required. Inasmuch as our study is based upon our review and engineering analyses and laboratory data, the conclusions and recommendations are professional opinions. These opinions have been derived in accordance with current standards of practice, and no warranty, either express or implied, is given. Standards of practice are subject to change with time.
