At a minimum, this description should answer (1) whether existing drainage conveyance is natural or urban; (2) describe existing constructed storm water conveyance systems, if applicable; and (3) is runoff from offsite conveyed through the site? if so, describe]: (1) The Abdi residence is a lot located on the southerly'portionof a corner of Shore Drive at the top of a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The existing drainage conveyance is characterized as urban. (2) A small portion of the lot, between the garage and Shore Drive, drains to the street. The rest of the lot drains to an existing I' storm drain system, discharging through the gunite at the base of the bluff. The driveway and adjacent landscape areas drain via sheet flow into Shore-Drive. Flows within Shore Drive travel a short distance northwesterly to an existing catch basin within the publicstreet. This catch basin drains via an existing 24-pipe that discharges at the base of the bluff. This system is subject to flows from the majority of the neighborhood, and upstream development. Analysis of this system finds it to be slightly undersized for the existing tributary flows. On-site flows are intercepted by a series of grate inlets located throughout the yard. While no specific pipe layout can be determined from the surface features, the point of discharge can be located where the pipes are grouted to the slope face. The two pipes are located within the gunite bluff edge. (Reference photos on next page.) A dip in the rear yard landscaped area and an area directly adjacent of the top of bluff drain over the edge and down the face of the bluff. Discharge from the pipes and drainage down the bluff discharge onto the sand and directly into the Pacific Ocean. . (3) There is no drainage tributary to the property from adjacent properties. 10/13/2017 Q) Q,O ro E ro ·-.... Harvest was deemed feasible per form 1-7. However, due.to site constraints, there is not sufficient êpace on the site to implement sufficient harvestand use facility. . (Step 3) In order to determine the infiltration condition, an infiltration feasibility study-was conducted. After geotechnical evaluation of the site, it was determined that the project site is unsuitable for "full infiltration" or "partial infiltration" due to potential geologic hazards. Theefore, a "no infiltration condition" was selected to compute the sizing requirements for a biofiltration area with an impermeable liner. Since this project is hydromod exempt, the proposed BMP design will account for pollutant control only;, no flow control measures. . (Step 4) Worksheet B.5-1 was used to compute the the minimum BMP footprint of the biofiltration area required, in order to determine if it was a feasible option. The calcLlated footprint will fit on the eastern portion of the site, abutting the retaining wall on the, back patio. The designed biofiltration area was sized and designed based on the design criteria and considerations presented in Appendix E to meet pollutant control performance standards. - I.: I: -, -. Ladies and Gentlemen: In accordance with the request of the project civil engineer, we have prepared this addendum to our referenced Report of Preliminary Geotechnical Investigation and Infiltration Feasibility Study to address the feasibility for storm water infiltration at the subject site. Unless specifically addressed or amended herein, all of the findings, conclusions, and recommendations presented in the referenced reports remain applicable to the subject project. A revised "Worksheet C.4-1: Categorization of Infiltration Feasibility Condition" for the subject project is included in Appendix A of this report. As presented on the last page (C-14) of the revised Worksheet C.4-1, our feasibility screening for infiltration for the subject project indicates "No Infiltration." BF-1-172ft2 A 1.5'xl'.5' concrete inlet will be installed within the BMP with its rim elevated 10" I , above the surface. The total depth of the inlet will be approximately 3'. - o The inlet will be visible from the surface and can be accessed through the grate. The depth will not require a ladder to access the full extent of the inlet. The biofiltration basin is accessible from the side and back yards of the private I residence. I . • Maintenance Thresholds Any grasses within the bioftltraiion areas shall be cut when in excess of 4" tall. I , o Debris & sediment shall be cleared from the basin when 2" have accumulated. Any amount sediment or debris accumulation observed within the overflow inlet Shall be removed when seen. I o During routine landscape maintenance activities, if bare areas or erosion are observed they shall be re-seeded. If standing water is observed for longer than, 24-hours the soil media shall be I inspected for clogging and cleaned. Soil Media Replacement I . o Soil media within the bioretention area shall be replacel when the filtration rate drops below 5"/hour if regular maintenance cannot restore this rate. I . Recommended Maintenance Equipment I , o Equipment needed for maintenance will typically include those needed for routine landscape maintenance: I ,. Hand Shovels Wheel barrows Lawn mower I . Hedge clippers Other , Special Training ' I o Maintenance and inspection activities required are typical for routine landscape . maintenance. No special training required.
