' ' ✓ EAST COUNTY SOIL CONSULTATION AND ENGINEERING, INC. 10925 HARTLEY ROAD SUITE I SANTEE CALIFORNIA 92071 619 258-7901 fax 619 258-7902 Mr. David Raum 261 Apple Blossum Lane Vista, California 92084 Subject: References: Dear Mr. Raum Response to Third Party Second Review Proposed Single-Family Residence 1587 Triton Street Carlsbad, California 92009 See Attached May 22, 2019 Project No. l l-l l 27C5 RECEIVED JUN 18 2019 LAND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING In accordance with your request, we have prepared this report to address the third party second review comments from NV5 West, Inc. for the proposed single-family residence at the subject site. Comments I and 3 We have reviewed the referenced geotechnical reports and structural building plans prepared by Omega Engineering Consultants of La Mesa California and dated July 7, 2011 for the design of the proposed mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall located on the western property boundery. Based on our field observations and density testing, it is our opinion that the appropriate design values were incorporated into the deign of the MSE wall including superimposed loads such as vehicle and seismic loads. Comment 2 The proposed concrete driveway and parking is planned to be located immediately adjacent to the top of the MSE wall. Therefore, we recommend that the upper 12 inches ofsubgrade should be scarified, moisture-conditioned within 2 percent over optimum and compacted to at least 95 percent relative compaction (ASTM DJ 557). PCC pavement should be a minimum of 3,500 psi concrete. It is recommended that steel reinforcement be provided for PCC pavements which will be subject to heavy impact loading, such as fire trucks. Minimum reinforcement for such slabs should consist of #3 deformed rebar placed at 18-inch centers each way. Placement of concrete, control/ expansion joints, and any reinforcement should be conformance with ACI specifications and the Structural Engineer's design. RECORD COPY Initial Date ---~ I"-~ Daviir-.
