Subject: Supplemental Report 0f Grading, Lot 4 (Former Model Parking .Lot),
Village E-1 , Carls6ád Tract 01-03, Carlsbad, San Diego County, California
Dear Mr. Gleed:
In accordance with your request and authorization GeoSoils, Inc (GSI), is presenting this
supplemental report of rough grading Grading and processing of original ground within
the subject lot was observed and selectively tested by a representative of GSI The scope
of our services includes geotechniôal observations during site grading, field density and
laboratory testing, and preparation of this summary letter. The purpose of grading was to
remove an existing parking lot (model complex) and prepare the pad for residential
construction.
The work performed to, date is in general, co,ifdrrnance with the recommendations
contained in our referenced reports (GSI 2003b and 2003c), and with the grading
ordinance of the City. Field testing indicates that fills placed under the purview of this
report have been compacted to a minimum 90 percent relative compaction Laboratory
testing performed to date indicates that additional fills (approximately. 1 foot) placed on the
lot are medium expansive (Expansion Index [E I] equal to 60), in accordance with Table
18-I-B of the Uniform Building Code ([UBC], International Conference of Building Officials
[ICBO] 1997) Unless superceded herein, the conclusions and recommendations
presented in the referenced reports (GSI 2004, 2003a, 2003b, and 2003c) remain valid
and applicable Based on the presence of expansive soils, the foundation and
improvements should be designed in consideration of medium expansive soils GSI
should review the foundation plans, prior to án construction.
The conclusions and recommendations presented herein are professional opinions These
opinions have been derived in accordance with current standards of practice and no
warranty is express or implied Standards of practice are subject to change with time GSI
