Trash enclosure and approach areas should be underlain by a 71/2 inch thick concrete slab
reinforced with No. 4 bars placed at 18 inches on-center each way. The slab shàuld be 'underlain by'

- The upper 12 inches of subgrade should. be scarified moisture conditioned to above optimum
moisture contents and compacted to at least 95 percent of the maximum dry density determined in
accordance with the ASTM D 1557 laboratory test procedures All soft or spongy areas should be
removed and replaced with compacted fill Aggregate base hol be 'compacted. to at least 95
percent of its maximum dry density. All materials and methods of construction bsu1i conform to
good engineering practices and the minimum standards set for by the City of Carlsbad
