The purpose of this testing was to determine the pavement sections for these areas. Results of the recent laboratory testing are as follows: Sample Identification Sample Location R-Value R-3 South of Building 12 13 R-4 South of Building 14 17 Based on information provided to us by Partners Planning & Engineering (PE&E) (the project civil engineer) via Mr. Abe Starks, it is our understanding that pavement design sections in the south parking lot for Traffic index (Ti5 =4.5 and 5.01-were prepared by PE&E consisting of 4 inches of asphaltic concrete (AC) over 7 inches of aggregate base (AB) and 4 inches AC over 9 inches AB for TI=4.5 and 5.0, respectively. Based on the recently completed R-Value testing and the Traffic Indices (TI) provided by PE&E, the aforementioned pavement sections for the on-site asphalt pavements within the south parking lot are considered suitable for their intended use. The pavement subgrade soils should be compacted to at least 90 percent of the ASTM D-1557 maximum dry density. The aggregate base course should be compacted to at least 95 percent of the ASTM D-1557 maximum dry density. The asphaltic concrete should be compacted to at least 95 percent of the Marshall maximum density, as determined by ASTM D-2726. The aggregate base course may consist of crushed aggregate base (CAB) or crushed miscellaneous base (CMB), which is a recycled gravel, asphalt and concrete material. The gradation, R-Value, Sand Equivalent, and Percentage Wear of the CAB or CMB should comply with appropriate specifications contained in the current edition of the "Greenbook" Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction. 22885 East Savi Ranch Parkway v Suite E v Yorba Linda, CA 92887-4624 voice: (714) 685-1115v fax: (714) 685-1118v www.socalgeo.com We appreciate the opportunity of providing geotechnical services on this project.
