Gentlemen:
Presented herein is Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc.'s (PSE) update letter for the proposed Carls-
bad Medical Village, in the City of Carlsbad, Califomia. The purpose ofthis study was to evalu-
ate the site geotechnical conditions as they relate to the current 20-scale grading and erosion con-
trol plans. Drawing No. 443-4A, Sheets 1 through 7 (Plot date, October 10, 2006), prepared by
Partners, Planning & Engineering. This plan forms the basis of the conclusions and recommen-
dations presented herein.
Review ofthe current site plan indicates that finished grades are similar to those as shown on the
30-scale plan that was the basis for our April 15, 2004 report (reference). It is PSE's understand-
ing that instead of two- (2) to three- (3) story stmctures, only single-story slab-on-grade struc-
tures are currently proposed.
Based on the fmdings ofthis study, it is PSE's opinion, that from a geotechnical viewpoint, the
grading plans that were reviewed are compatible with the findings identified in our referenced
report. All grading should conform to the City of Carlsbad requirements and to the recommen-
dations presented in the referenced report.
