Reference: ABI Engineering Consultants, Inc., 2014, Design Report for Segmental Block Retaining Walls, Anchor Vertica® Blocks, Buena Vista 11 Subdivision, APNs 156-200-01, 02, and 15, Carlsbad, California, ProjectNo.: 14220, dated September 11 Pursuant to your request, Inland Engineering Technologies, Inc. (IET) presents geotechnical review letter for the proposed segmental block retaining walls for lots 6 and 11 within the Buena Vista 11 Subdivision, APNs 156-200-01, 02, and 15, City ofCarlsbad, County of San Diego, Califomia. IET reviewed the referenced ABI, 2014 report. Based on our review, the referenced ABI, 2014 report is geotechnically acceptable, provided IET perform construction inspection and testing. The backfill soils should be compacted to at least 95 percent relative compaction (based on ASTM D2922 and DSO 17). The backfill soils for the proposed segmental block retaining walls should have an Expansion Index less than 25 per ASTM D4829. Design changes may arise during construction of the subject walls. Our services were performed using the degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised, under simiiar circumstances, by reputable engineers and geologists practicing in this or similar localities. No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the conclusions and professional advice included in this report. Soil and geologic conditions revealed by excavation may be different than our preliminary findings. If this occurs, the changed conditions must be evaluated by the project soils engineer and design(s) adjusted as required or altemate design(s) recommended.
