I .. , : ~ ; j This letter is intended to update the prior geotechnical reports by GeoTek, Inc. (GeoTek) for the Beachwalk at Roosevelt project in Carlsbad, California. GeoTek performed a geotechnical site evaluation in 2014 (see reference I) and an updated report (reference 2) largely in response to City of Carlsbad review comments. Since issuance of reference 2 prior the older buildings on the site were removed and soils were temporarily stockpiled on the site. We noted the stockpiled soil in early 2017. Recent site observations in January 2018 indicate that most if not all the stockpiled soil has bee n removed. Miscellaneous debris (e.g. some concrete, empty buckets, a gravel pile, etc.) were noted during the observation. These should be either placed within engineered fill or re moved from the site as appropriate e.g. gravel and smaller concrete fragments can be mixed in fill any trash, or over sized materials should be removed from the site and properly disposed. Some of our prior reports for the project contained incorrect cover pages and or the headers on some pages were incorrect. These a ppa rently occurred due to word processing glitches. The following have been noted: • On the July 21, 2014 Preliminary Report (Reference I), the title page incl·udes reference tb "Madison Street Project" this should have indicated "Roosevelt Street Project". Carlsbad Project No. 3447-SD3 April 24, 2018 Page 2 • On the April 15, 2016 Updated Preliminary Report (Reference 3). the title page includes reference to "Madison Street Project" once again this should have indicated "Roosevelt Street Project". • In the February 27, 2016 Infiltration Evaluation (Reference 2)the header on page 2 indicates Beachwalk at "Madison" which should have read "Roosevelt". • The date in the header on pages 2-7 of "Geotechnical Review of BMP" letter dated August 9, 2016 (Reference 4) was incorrect in addition to also indicating "Madison". We apologize for any confusion these glitches may have caused. We considered whether reissuing the reports would be the prudent approach to correct these issue, we would be happy to do so. However, considering the age of the reports and that they have been previously submitted and reviewed it seems that submitting revised reports could potentially create more confusion rather than clarifying that a lready created. The opportunity to be of service is sincerely appreciated. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office. Respectfully submitted, GeoTek, Inc.
