DRAINAGE AREA MAP 2 3 5 18 24 1. fNTRODUCTION This hydrology report was prepared for the Beach Village Life project, located at 300 Christiansen Way, Carlsbad, CA 92008. APN: 203-1 73-02. The project proposes a mixed use hotel/spa and residential units development on an existing 0.278 acre vacant lot. The development consists of a zero lot line 2 story building with underground parking and associated underground utilities. T he site was previously graded and is mostly bare. The area used to be mostly impervious and covered by a hotel that was burned down a few years back. T he topography slopes in a northeasterly direction with elevations ranging from approximately 55 to 44. T he existing drainage is urban and surface drains into Christiansen Way, with no offsite runoff. The drainage flows east towards Washington Street then, to a curb inlet at the N.E. corner of Washington Street and Grand Ave. From there it heads north draining into the Buena Vista Lagoon then west to the Pacifi c Ocean. T he existing onsite drainage patterns wi II be altered but the ultimate point of site discharge will remain the same. The roof downspout will connect to a Modular Wetland BF-3 Proprietary Biofiltrati on System for stormwater treatment. We have used the County of San Diego Hydrology Manual to determine the run-off from the site for the I 00-year storm event. Based on the soil hydro logic group map of the County Hydrology Manual, the project soil uniformly consists of type B across all sub areas. Peak flow rates were calculated using the rational method. Times of concentrations were calculated using the Manning's and Kirpich equations to obtain velocities for average peak Q 100 flow rates. fl. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION The existing onsite drainage patterns will be altered but the ultimate po int of site discharge will remain the same. The entire flow will be directed to one Modular Wetland BF-3 Proprietary Biofiltration System for stormwater treatment. The minimum required treatment was calculated at 0.075 cfs and the proposed unit MWS-L-4-8-V with treatment flowrate of 0.081 cfs. The un it's outl et orifi ce was sized at 1.39". (See attachment C for Biofiltration System details). The MWS Vault unit will be in one location, indoor on the floor of the upper parking deck. The plumbing consultant will manifold all roof drains down. T here will be one outlet out of the unit that will gravity flow out the c urb face to the city gutter. Adequate offsets will be provided around the unit for maintenance and v isual inspection. T he current MS4 regulations are being met by treating the entire post development flow, as detailed in the SWQMP repo1t. Regarding the post development 100-year peak flow, the currently vacant pre development site with Ql 00 = 0.3 cfs used to be impervious and entirely covered by a hotel that was burned down a few years back. And its previously developed flow was likely c lose to the proposed project's post development l 00-yr peak flow of I .4 cfs.
