Reference: Foundation Soils Investigation for the subject project, by Kenneth G. Osborns & Associates, dated May 24, 1971, (Job No. 71-393-1). Gentlemen: This report presents soil engineering data and test results pertaining to the placement of compcted earth fill on the subject property. Compaction test results are presented in Table 1, and the approximate locations of tests are shown on the accompanying grading plan (2 sheets), prepared by Joseph E. Bonadiman and Associates, Engineers-Planners. Fills, cuts and processing of original ground under the purview of this report has been completed under our inspection and are, to the best of our knowledge, in compliance with grading criteria for the City of Carlsbad, California. The completed work has been reviewed and is considered suitable for the intended use as a Mobil Home Park. Graded slopes are considered grossly and surficially stable and will remain so under normal conditions. July 11, 1974 Work Order 100123 - Page 2 Soil Type - A- B- D- l. 2. 3. - - 4. Brown Silty Sand 11 .o 125.0 Light Brown Silty Sand 10.0 121 .o Light Brown Sand 9.0 126.0 Prior to placement of compacted fill, all hewy vegetation and trees were removed from the site. Within areas to receive fill, the exposed surface was watered as necesslry, processed, and compacted in-place to a minimum of 90 percent of the laboratory standard. Fill material consisting of the above soil types was placed in thin lifts, watered as necessary and compacted in-place to a minimum of 90 percent of the laboratory standard. Compaction was attained by self-propelled and tractor-drawn sheepsfoot rollers. Each fill lift was treated in a like manner. The upper six (6) + inches of cut pads were watered as necessary, processed and compacted to a minimum of 90 percent of the laboratory standard. - Street subgrade was watered, as necessary, and compacted to a minimum of 95 percent of the laboratory standard. Compaction tests were taken in every one (1) to two (2) feet (vertically) of fill placed. Fill slopes were over-built during mass grading cnd upon completion, trimmed back to the compacted core. A bearing capacity of 1,500 Ibs./sq.ft., at an embedment depth of 12-inches, may be assigned for the subject compacted fill and firm natural ground. The onsite soils are considered non-expansive in nature. Upon completion of utility line and storm drain backfill, and retaining wall backfill, testing of backfill and reporting of Same will be done. Upon completion of utility work in streets, verification of the proposed pavement section will be accomplished.
