- Dear Mr. Richards:
At the request of Mr. Morrison we have performed nine (9)
field density tests in the subbase material and eight (8) field
density tests in the road base material within the referenced
- project, Carlsbad, California. The field density tests were done
in accordance with A.S.T.M. D-1556, the Sand Cone method. -
One laboratory compaction test was also performed to determine
- the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of the base

material tested. The other tests used tuere previously determined.
All of these tests mere performed in accordance with A.S.T.M. D-1557-70
(method A).
The test locations and elevations mere designated by Mr. Morrison.
The field density tests were taken at subbase finish grade and road
base finish grade elevations. A summary follows:
