Supervision was provided during this period. Prior to the placement of fill soils, all vegetation and debris was removed from the site. The existing loose surficial soils were excavated to competent material. The exposed surface was scarified, moisture conditioned and recompacted to ninety, (90%) percent of the Laboratory Standard. The fill soils were placed in six (6") inch lifts, moisture conditioned and compacted in a like manner. Keys were constructed at the toe of the fill slope to provide support for the fill,' in accordance with our recommendations. Sub-drains were installed also in accordance with our recommendations. The relative compaction percent ,was determined by the Sand Cone Method (ASTM:D-1556-70) and the Nuclear Method (ASTM:D-2922-7). These test,s were taken a'minimum, of every 500 cubic yards placed and every two (2') feet in depth of fill placed. .. Compaction was obtained by Cat 637 Scrapers, Cat 825, Bla4e Dozer, Steel Roller and Sheepsfoot. Water trucks were used for moisture control. • • • • • Mola Development Page 3 w.o. 386902 Expansive soil tests were performed on representative samples of the listed lots. These tests were performed in accordance with Section 29 of the U.B.C. 1973 edition. This value is for 'dead plus live load and may be increased by one-third (1/3) for total including seismic and wind loads where allowed by code. Reinforcing bars shall extend a minimum of ten (10') feet on either side of transition line. Footings placed on or adjacent to slopes shall have a minittlUpl • horizontal distance of five (5') feet from the edge of the footings to the face of the slope. Footings should not be poured' until authorization to do so has been • obtained from the Building Inspector. Excavations may be made .and forms set before approval offue report at the Owner's risk. I hereby certify that the subject grading was supervised by me and the work was done in full compliance with the Grading Ordinance of the • City of Carlsbad, and in accordance with best accepted practices and the applicable chapter of the U.B.C. • • • REGULATORY COMPLIANCE All cuts, fills or processing of original ground under the purview of this report have been completed under the inspection of, and with selective testing by ACTION GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTANTS and found to be in compliance with the Grading Code of the City of Carlsbad. The completed work has 'been reviewed and is considered adequat'e for the development now planned. Our findings were made and recommendations prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional engineering practices, and no further warranty is implied nor made. Concrete floor slab in areas to be covered with moisture sensitive covering! shall be constructed over a 6 mil plastic membrane. The plastic should be properly lapped, sealed and protected with sand.
