The results of the compaction tests are shown on Table I. Locations of the tests are shown on the accompanying plot plan. Dry Density TYPS Classification Moisture % Lbs./Cu. Ft. I SAND, RED/BROWN 11.0 125.0 The re-grading of the referenced lots was conducted from March 16, 1984 through March 21, 1984. Supervision was provided during this period. - - - The existing high expansive soils were removed from the referenced lots to a depth of three (3') feet, and replaced with a .low expansive soil. The fill soils were placed in six (6") inch lifts, moisture conditioned and compacted in a like manner. Compaction was obtained by sheepsfoot and scraper. A water truck was used for moisture control. - 1630-G Sw!C Sunkist St., Anaheim, CA 92806 (714) 6342092 -- -- -~- ,- - - Westana Builders/Developers Page 2 W.O. 407002 The relative compaction percent was determined by the Sand Cone Method (ASTM:D-1557-70) and the Nuclear Method (ASTM:D-2922-7). These tests were taken a minimum of every 500 cubic yards placed and every two (2') feet in depth of fill placed. The proposed structures shall be supported by isolated and continuous spread footings placed a minimum depth of twelve (12") inches below lowest adjacent finish grade utilizing a recommended safe bearing value 2600 pounds per square foot and 2100 pounds per square foot, respectively. This value is for dead plus live load and may be increased by one-third (l/3) for total including seismic and wind loads where allowed by code. Results are as follows: Soil Expansion LFYP Potential (Lots :ll-116) 23 Low Footings which span from native material to compacted fill shall be reinforced with a minimum of one (1) #5 bar top and bottom to control potential differential movement. Reinforcing bars shall extend a minimum of ten (10') feet on either side of transition line. Footings placed on or adjacent to slopes shall have a minimum horizontal distance of five (5') feet from the edge of the footings to the face of the slope. Footings should not be poured until authorization to do so has been obtained from the Building Inspector. Excavations may be made and forms set before approval of the report at the owner's risk. Westana Builders/Developers Page 3 W.O. 407002 I hereby certify that the subject grading was supervised by me and the work was done in full compliance with the Grading Ordinance of the City of Carlsbad, and in accordance with best accepted practices and the applicable chapter of the U.B.C. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE All cuts, fills or processing of original ground under the purview of this report have been completed under the inspection of and with selective testing by ACTION GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTANTS and found to be in compliance with the Grading Code of the City of Carlsbad. The completed work has been reviewed and is considered adequate for the development now planned. Our findings were made and recommendations prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional engineering practices, and no further warranty is implied nor made.
