The existing loose surficial soils were cavated to competent material. The exposed surface was scarified, isture conditioned and recompacted to ninety (90%) percent of the boratory Standard. /. e fill soils were placed in six (6") inch lifts, moisture conditioned d compacted in a like manner. key was constructed at the toe of the~fill slopes to provide support r the fill. The existing slopes were properly benched during nstruction. me native soil classifies as SANDSTONE, and is suitable for the support I: of the fill and the proposed structures. e c Compaction was obtained by 633 Scrapers, 824 Rubber Tire Dozer. A water truck was used for moisture control. 'Ihe relative compaction percent was determined by the Sand Cone Method (ASTM:D-1556-70). These tests were taken a minimum of every 500 cubic yards placed and every two (2') feet in depth of fill placed. Expansion indexes were determined in accordance with Section 29 of the U.B.C. 1978 edition. Results are as follows: Lot Expansion Expansion No. 's 'Index Potential l-5 23 Low 56-65 20 Low 120-121 20 Low ' 122-132 28 Low 132-139 30 Low Froposed structures shall be supported by isolated and continuous ead footings placed a minimum depth of twelve (12") inches below P est ,adjacent finish grade utilizing a recommended safe bearing ze of 2600 pounds per square foot and 2100 pounds per square foot, ; ectively. This value is for dead plus live load and may be raased by one-third (l/3) for total including seismic and wind ds where allowed by code. Increases in bearing capacity for B‘ me-eases in footing dimensions are tabulated below: Minimum Minimum Bearing Depth Width 'Value (inches) (inches) (psf) Increase Depth Width (psf/ft)(psf/ft) Maximum rs, !Continuous 12 12 2100 314 109 4100 'Isolated 12 12 2600 314 105 4200 Footings which span from native material to compacted fill shall be --reinforced with a minimum of one (1) 05 bar top and bottom to control potential differential movement. Reinforcing bars shall extend a i minimum of ten (10') feet on either side of transition line. L f '~ I. I., Footings placed on or adjacent to slope's shall have a minimum horizontal distance of five (5') feet from the edge of the footings to the face of the slope. Footings should not be poured until authorization to do so has been obtained from the Building Inspector. Excavations may be made and forms set before approval of the report at the owner's risk. I hereby certify that the subject grading was supervised by me and the work was done in full compliance with the Grading Ordinance of the City of Carlsbad and in accordance with best accept.ed practices and the applicable chapter of the U.B.C. REGULATORY'COMPLIANCE All cuts, fills or processing of original ground under the purview of this report have been completed under the inspection of and with selective testing by ACTION GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTANTS, and found to 'in compliance with the Grading Code of the City of Carlsbad. The spleted work has been reviewed and is considered adequate for the Ielopment now planned.
