DORIS COSMAN Building Department Ray Gamson Building Department Mr Garrison, Along with the order to remove the addition, on our residence, was a copy of the letter sent February 19,1991 by Carter Darnell, reguarding plancheck 90-507 In his letter Mr Darnell stated, "It is our desiie to solve code violations in the simplest way, but we must coclude that you no longer wish to legalize this violation " Well that is not the case at all, we defmately want to conect this situation Had I received the letter from Mr Darnell I would have contacted him at that time, but my Mother (Kathenne Baum) did not forward it to me My mother is retired, living in the house, while my primary residence is in Simi, Ca We puchased the house from a local licensed contractor, although we were told that there were no building permits we were appalled at the number and seventy of code violations When the list of corrections came back I instructed and paid the architect, who drew the plans, to precede with the necessary collections They wei e supposed to be finished in three to tour months He had some setbacks, but I must take responsibility for not persuing the project from September on due to the tact that 1 have been unemployed trying to start my own company Since the first ot the year the architect has failed to complete his obligation even undei the thieat of legal action Since February I have tried to get the architect to return all the paper work to another engineer to hopefuly finish, so we can continue I know this letter may be too little too late, but we really would like to correct the violations Unfortunately, with my mother on a fixed income and the large debt ] have incurred since October, it will be financially as well as physically impossable tor us to remove the addition by the deadline imposed 1 imagine it is to late to alter the proceedings, but if at all possible, I would like to puisue the completion of the project since I have already paid a good deal of money to solve the problems My apologies for the lengthy explanation, but I wanted you to know we leally want to finish the pi oject I know your hands may be tied, but any assistance would be giatefully appreciated Thank you for all that you folks at the building department have done, if there is any hope or alternative please contact me Respectfully yours, •Q Q^lV^ Pc"-""^ Ray Baum c Pat Kelley, Senoir Building Inspector February 19, 1991 Ray Baum 1014 Tulip Carlsbad, Ca 92009 PLANCHECK 90-507 LEGALIZE EXISTING ADDITION You applied for this plancheck on March 27, 1990.
