At its meeting of August 19, 1969, the Council passed
a resolution regarding the houses which are still standing
on cribbing at 1239 Knowles and 380 Oak, in the City, The
public hearing is scheduled for September 2, 1969, at 7:30
P. M. in the Council Chambers regarding abeying these as
public nuisances. '
No later than August 26, 1969, you or someone in your
department must cause a copy or copies of this resolution to
be conspicuously posted on or in front of each of the sub-
ject properties, One notice is required for properties
up to fifty feet of street frontage and af least two notices
for subject property of more than fifty feet of street
frontage. The.notices shall be no farther apart than one
hundred feet in the event the street frontage is greater
than one hundred feet. In addition, you shall also cause
copies of the resolution to be mailed to each person to
whom the subject property is assessed on the last equalized
roll available. I have checked this with Ray Green and
find that the Knowles property is assessed to Mrs. Jane Hunt
at that address and that the Oak property is assessed to
Lester L. Buchart, 1221 North George Street, York, Penn-
sylvania, 17404.
You should get as many conformed copies of the resolution
as you need from Margaret. These need not be certified, but all

of the names, dates, and blank spaces should be filled in
by either typing or handwriting so that the document is
complete.
At the hearing on the alleged nuisances, you or some·
one from your department should be present and ready to
testify as to the facts which caused these structures to
constitute nuisances, We have previously discussed the
fact that they constitute fire hazard by reason of weeds
growing underneath them which cannot be clipped; that
they are not stable and could collapse; and that they
constitute an attractive nuisance to children who could
be injured in them. These and any other reasons should
be given to the Council.
