Lamps used in luminaries for general lighting in kitchens and bathrooms shall have an efficiency of . not less than 25 lumens per watt. Masonry and factory-built fireplaces on exterior walls, shall be equipped with tight-fitting closeable metal or glass doors covering the entire opening of the firebox; a combustion air intake equipped with a readily accessible, operable, and tight fitting damper to draw air from the outside of the building; and a tight fitting flue damper with a readily accessible control. Insulation used shall comply with California Quality Standards. The insulation installer shall post, a signed certificate.. .Section. 276.. Insulation Certificate (All Occupancies). After installing insulation, the installer shall post in a conspicuous location in the building a certificate signed by the installer and the builder stating that the installation conforms the requirements of Title 24, Part 2, Chapter 2-53, and that the materials installed conform with the requirements of Title 20, Chapter 2, Subchapter 4, Article 3. The certificate shall state the manufacturer's name and material identification, the installed "R" value, and (in applications of loose fill insulation) the minimum installed weight per square foot consistent with the manufacturer's labeled density for the desired "R" value. STEAM AND STEAM COMPENSATE RETURN AND RECIRCULATING HOT WATER PIPE INSULATION 1. Pipe insulation is required. TITLE 24 NOTES Exterior openable windows and sliding glass doors will be weather-stripped, tested, certified and labeled (T20-1495). All manufactured windows and sliding glass doors shall meet the air Infiltration standards of the 1972 American National Standards Institute and shall be certified and labeled (T20-1403 (D) (2)). All open joists, penetrations and other openings in the building envelope shall be sealed, caulked, gas Ice ted or weather-stripped to limit air leakage. All transverse duct, plenum and fitting joints shall be sealed with pressure sensitive tape or mastic to prevent air loss (T20-1404 (D) (1) and Chapter 10 of 1976 UMC). Insulation of ducts shall conform to Section 1005 of the Uniform Mechanical Code (T20-1404 (D) (2)). Setback thermostats will be Installed (electric heat pump exempt). The heat pump (if any) shall be Installed with a control to prevent supplementary heater operation when the heater load can be met by the heat pump alone (T20-1405 (0) (3)). Water heater will be equipped with an external blanket, R-12 or greater. Showerheads, lavatory and sink faucets used for other than safety purposes shall be equipped with flow control devices total flow to a maximum of three gallons per minute and certified by C.E.C. (T20-1406 (F)). Steam or condensate return piping, hot water inlet and outlet piping (first five feet in unconditioned space) and recirculating hot water piping in attics, garages, crawl spaces or unheated spaces, other than between floors and Interior walls, shall be insulated. Normally 0.5" of fiber glass or 3/8" flextube Insulation would be required for service hot water pipes and up to 1.5" of calcium silicate or 1" of fiber glass Insulation for steam pipes (T20- 1406 (D)).
