June, 1991 Filing Category: FASTENERS—Concrete and Masonry Anchors (066) 1) HKT-14 KWIK-BOLT CONCRETE ANCHORS Hull, INC. 5400 SOUTH 122ND EAST AVENUE TULSA, OKLAHOMA 74146 Subject: HKT-14 Kwik-Bolt Concrete Anchors. Description: A. HKT Kwik-Bolt: The HKT is a 1/4-inch Kwik-Bolt with an eye on top instead of a nut and washer and is available in only one size. The anchor is installed in a 1/4-inch-diameter predrilled hole, 11/2 inches deep, tapped into place with a claw hammer and set by engaging the claws of the hammer with the slot around the head and pulling upward as if re- moving a nail. Allowable tension loads in lightweight concrete are noted in Table No. I. No allowable loads are assigned for shear or for use in stone-aggregate, standard-weight concrfle. 1990 Accumulative Supplement to the U.B.C.: This report is unaf- fected by the Supplement. Identification: The anchors are identifiable in the field by means of their dimensional characteristics and packaging. Ill. Evidence Submitted: Descriptive data, withdrawal and shear test results have been submitted. Findings IV. Findings: That the concrete anchors described in this report are an alternate method of anchorage to those specified in the 1988 Uni- form Building Code, subject to the following conditions: Allowable shear and pull-out values do not exceed those set forth in Table No. I. Minimum spacing, edge and end distances conform to the re- quirements set forth in Table No. I. Allowable loads for anchors subjected to combined shear and tension forces shall be determined by the ratio of the actual shear to the allowable shear plus the ratio of the actual tension to the allowable tension not exceeding 1.00. Anchors shall not be subjected to vibratory or shock loads such as supports for reciprocating engines: crane rails unless their adequacy Is determined by tests and aroved by the local build- ing official. The allowable loads may not be increased for duration of loads such as wind or seismic forces. Expansion anchors shall be installed in holes predrilled with a Hilti carbide-tipped drill bit, manufactured by Hilti, Inc. This report is subject to re-examination in one year. Spacing and edge distance may be reduced to six-diameter spacing and three-diameter edge distance. - provided the values are reduced 50 percent. Linear interpolation may be used for intermediate spacings and edge margins. 3These tension values are only applicable when the anchors are installed with special inspection as set forth in Section 306 of the code.
