RAFTER JOISTS/GARAGE CEILING JOISTS - WHEN RAFTER JOISTS OR GARAGE CEILING JOISTS ARE USED, THEY SHALL BE PLACED ON ALL RAFTERS, NOT EVERY OTHER RAFTER. THE STRUTS WHICH SUPPORT THE PURLINS AND CARRY THE LOADS TO BEARING WALLS, SHALL BE A MINIMUM SIZE OF 2 x 4, AND THE UNBRACED LENGTH SHALL NOT EXCEED 8 FEET. 10. WHENEVER THE ROOF SYSTEM HAS BEEN DETERMINED BY RAFTER TAILS (REFERRED TO IN THE SECTION DRAWINGS), THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO VERIFY THE SIZE AND SPACING OF THESE RAFTERS, AFTER THE ROOF IS REMOVED. 13.
