The fills were placed during the period between . July 15, 1971 and July 20, 1972. The cpproxirnak area and depths of filled ground placed under our inspection in accordcnce with the cpproved specifications are shown on the atlacked Drawing No. 1, entitled "Location of Compacted Filled Ground." i he gruding plan used for the placement of filled ground was prepared by Rick Enginaering Cornpony and approvad March 15, 1971. - The opproximafe localions at which the tesh were taken and the fino! test results are presenfed on poges f-1 to T-26, inclusive, under the "Table of Test Rewffs." It has been datermined that the fill materials, compacted to 90 percent of the maximum dry density, have a safe beuring value of 1930 pounds per square foot for one foot wide continuous fcotings founded at a minimum depth and placed five feet or more inside the top OF compacted fillitd ground slopes. If footings are placed closer to the exposed slopes than 5 feet inside the top of compacted filled ground slopes, these should be deepened one foot below a 1 1/2 horizontal to 1 vertical line projected outward and downward from a poinf 5 feet horizontally inside the top of cornpackl filled gl;ound slopes. Tests indicate thaf the compacted filled ground is adaquatc to satisfactorily support the proposed wood frame dwellings without detriments! settlements. Expansive clay, sifv clay, and sandy clay soils vere placed in the upper three feet in certain compacted fill areas and also exist in the upper three feet below finished grade in certain cuf area. Avoid the use of isolafed inferior piers. Use continuous interconnecked . reinforced footings throughout, cad place these at a minimum depth of two feet below the lowest adjacent exterior final ground surface. 2. Reinforce and interconnect continuously with steel bun all interior and exterior footings with one #5 bar at 3 inches above the bottom of the footings and one #5 bar placed 1 1/2 inches below the top of the stems of the foofings. 3. Exercise every effort to assure that the moisture content of tha soils in the upper 18 inches below finished grade is ? percent to 3 percent greater than optimum at the time of placing foundations and slubs. 4. Raised wooden floors that span between continuous Footings are best, or use concrete slabs with ot least 6x6 -10/10 welded wire reinForcement ond a minimum of 4 inches of cmhed rock 3/4 to 1 inch in size beneath all concrete slabs. A moisture barrier should be provided over the crushed rock and this should &e covered with 2 inches of sand below concrete slabs. i ~ 5. Separate garage slabs from perimeter footings by a 1/2 inch thickness of ~ conshuction fef t or equivalent, to allow indcpsndent mov2ment of garage slabs relative to perirnster footings. Assure compleb separation by extending the felt over the full depth of the Front thickened edge of the garage slab. Also, cut off the garage door stops at least 1/2 inch above the slab. I I I I .&jcct No. 71-7-173 -4- October 19, !??2 Li'Costa Land Company 6. Provide positive drainaga away from all perimeter foofings with a vertical fat1 of at least 6 inches in a horizontal distance of 5 to 6 Feet outside the housa wolls. Type B Lots Those fob fisted as Type 8 lots should follow all the above-listed recommendations with the two following exceptions: 1, .. The continuous footings may be ploced at a minimum depth of 18 inches below the loweit adjacent exterior final ground surface rather than the two feet recommsndsd for Type A lots. 2,. Single #4 bur placed as directed (above) near fops and bofkom OF ail interior and exterior footings may be substituted for the f5 ban recommended for Type A lots. i?ecornrnendotions 3 to 6, incfusive, as listed for the Type A lok, are alto applicable to the Typ B lots. Cnly nonexpansive soil conditions were observed in the upper three feet on the Type C jok cnd therefore specially designed footings and slabs will not be required on these lots. f,espectfu I l y submitted, - 6ENTON ENGfNEERING, INC.
