RES0,LUTION
WHERE%Sp an examinatton of the housleng conditions 9n
the City of Carlsbad reveals that many substandard conditions
exlist; and
tVHEFZUS, 5t fs recognized that a strict enforcement 6f
the applicable laws as a means of abating these substandard
conditilons would create many undue hardships upon the owners; and
WHEREAS, there exist several alternative means of
alleviating these condikions without; undue herdships upon the .
owners;
NOW TE?,REFY)RE, B3 IT ESOLVRD, that a committee be and
hereby its *created. to be knom as the %etter-.Houstiig Codittee",
Said committee 'shall be advtsorg to the CSty Council and shall
have for its purpose the alleviati'on of the substandard housing
in the CZty of Carlsbad, Said commtlttee shall be charged with
the responsibility of iavestigating the" extstgng means of'
%mproving substandard housing and that, the said cormnitliee shall
further examine all cases of substandard hoQs2ng in the CJLty of
Carlsbad and shall advtse the owners of the substandard housing
of the most appropriate mews of abating saLd condft9on. In
the event the substandard housing cannot be adequately remedled
by' the. owner, then such oommS.tt;ee shall make. recommendation
to the CsLty Council as to the most appropriate means of abatlng
such substandard housing.

members the C€ty Health Officer, the City Bullding Inspector,

Council. The ex-off%cio members shell have no vote, but shell
serve In advisory capacity to the committee, The committee
shall meet at such intervals as they deem necessary and
appropriate
