RESOLUTION NO. 157
RESOLUTION PROTESTING THE C.A.A. CANCELLATION OF BANANZA AIRLINE CERTIFICATE, AND URGING MODIFICATION OF THE SAA4E.
WHEREAS, the Civil Aeronautics Board has recently issued
a cancellation of the Bonanza Airlines Certificate renewal,
cancelling the authorization of that airline to render scheduled
air passengers, mail and express service to Oceanside-Carlsbad
and the North San Diego County Area; and
WHEREAS, this area would be deprived of the inherent ad-
vantages of air transportation to any city in the entire North
half of San Diego County unless and until a new airline certifi-
cation were granted by said Board upon application, and then only
after a long drawn-out and expensive public hearing; and
WHEREAS, Bonanza Airlines has for some years past been ready
and willing to provide service to this area and has not done so
only because there was no adequate airport available, and has and
is urgently requesting the Civil Aeronautics Board to reverse its
decision of cancellation and to modify the same so as to merely
suspend Bonanza Airlines certificate to serve the area until such
time as an adequate C,A,A, approved airport is provided; and
WHEREAS, an appropriate site has been selected on the Allan
Kelly tract of land approximately 4 miles East of Carlsbad, and
said site has recently been surveyed and tentatively approved by
the C,A.A, District Engineer, Thomas E, Flaherty, and by Lee E,
Bishop, C,A.A. Air Carrier Agent, thus demonstrating progress
towards the establishment of an airport. /
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carfsbad in
regular session unanimously adopted this resolution protesting the
C.A.A. cancellation of Bonanza Airline Certificate to serve here
and the North Sara Diego County area, and urges said Board to
reverse its decision and to modify the same at least to the extent

of changing it from an outright cancellation of Bonanza's authority
to a mere suspension until such time as the present plans for an
airport can be processed through the normal and orderly channels.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad this 15th day of February , 1955, by the
following vote, to wit:
