RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TFE COUNTY OF
SAN DIEGO TO ADOPT A COUNTY SAL.ES AND USE TAX ORDINANC€.
5 WHEREAS, $7200 to $7207 of the Revenue and Tax Code of the
6 State of California authorizes counties to adopt a sales and use
5' tax; and,
a WREAS, said sections provide the mechanics for the State
9 Board of Equalization to collect municipal sales and use taxes
10 when and if the county has adopted a sales and use tax; and,
11 %HER€&, the City of Carlsbad presently levies a one percent
12 (1%) sales tax within the corporate limits of the City of Carlsbad;
13 and,
14 WHEREAS, the collection of the City of Carlsbad sales and
15 use tax would be facilitated by the County of San Diego enacting
16 a sales and use tax; and,
17 MilSWAS, all retailers within the corporate limits within
18 the County of San Diego would be benefited by the simplification
19 of State and local tax return,
20 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
21 herewith urges the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Diego
22 to adopt a county sales and use tax ordinance in accordance with
23 the provisions of $7200 to $7207 of the Revenue and Tax Code of the
24 State of California.
25 PASSES, APPROVED ANL) ADOPTED this 14th day of February, 1956,
26 by the following vote, to wit:
27 AYES : Mayor Ede, Councilmen Cast;orsrta and Helean*
28 NOES : None
29 ABSENT: Counoilmen Robinson and Suttonr
