HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-10-04; City Council; Resolution 693. r) RESOLUTION NO. 693 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the United Nations has made vital contri- butions to civilization in guarding mankind against the calamities of war; and WHEREAS, this organization has also assisted in the advance of self-government and general welfare among dependent peoples and in progress toward the rule of law among nations; and WHEREAS, President Dwight D. Eisenhower has proclaimed Monday, October 24, 1960, as United Nations Day; and WHEREAS, California is the birthplace of the Charter of the United Nations and of the organization it created; and WHEREAS, the President of the United States and the Fifteenth Anniversary of the effective date of such Charter, Governor of California have called upon all citizens to observe this NOW, THEREFORE, I, JANE C, SONNEMAN, Mayor of the City of Carlsbad, do hereby proclaim Monday, October 24, 1960, as United Nations Day in and for the City of Carlsbad, and I further call upon all residents of Carlsbad to avail themselves of this opportunity for better understanding of the purposes, problems and achievements of the United Nations and to support and participate in community programs for observance of this important anniversary.
