RESOLUTION NO. 722
A RESOLITTXON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD IN OPPOSI- TION TO THE SAN DIEGO GAS AND
NO. 42887 FOR A 29% RATE INCREASE. ELECTRIC COMPANY~S APPLICATION
WHERW, the San Diego Gas and Electric Company has made application
to the Public Utilities Commission of the State bf California for a rate increase
as more fully set out in said application No. 42887; and
WIEEREBS, such increase will vitally affect the consumers of the City of
Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that the shareholders of the San
Diego Gas and Electric Company are entitled to a reasonable return of their
investmenkj. and
WHEBEAS, after investigation it is the considered opinion af the City
Council of Carlsbad that this request for a 29% increase in rates is exorbitbnt
since such an increase would be detrimental to the public welfare and would
provide an excessive return on investment;
NOW, TI-IEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad opposes the rate increase as requested by the San Diego Gas
and Electrict Company in application No. 42887.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad at a regular meeting held on February 7, 1961, by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Guevara, Bierce, Sonneman, McPherson and La Roche
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
