HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-04-02; City Council; Resolution 8891 i ? 4 5 6 7 E! 9 1C 11 12 13 14 1E 16 17 1€ 19 2c 21 22 .2 3 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. 889 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD SUPPORTING ANY TIDELAND OIL ROYALTIES BILL WHICH WOULD DIVIDE AMONG ALL COASTAL CITIES FOR USE IN NIAINTAINING BEACHES. WHEREAS, the cost of cleaning, maintaining and policing beaches in coastal cities is expensive, time consuming, tedius and continuous; and WHEREAS, much of the cause necessitating such cleaning, maintaining and policing said beaches is caused by oil residue and the results of oil drilling; and WHEREAS, the costs to clean, maintain and police such beaches of the material deposited thereon due to oil drilling, recovery, and other causes due to the establishment of oil wells along the coastal area is now the burden of taxpayers in coastal cities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that State Senator John Murdy, R-Santa Ana, be supported and so notified, that should he author a bill similar to one he presented in 1955 to ask for tideland oil royalties to be divided among all coastal cities which maintain beach frontage; the purpose of the royalties being for cleaning, maintaining and policing said beaches; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be mailed to State Senator John iMurdy, at Sacramento, California. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, at a regular meeting held on the 2nd day of April, 1963, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Guevara, Bierce, McPherson and Neiswender.
