HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-01-24; City Council; Resolution 9801 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 18 3.3. 12 13 34 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. 980 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIAs CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL, 1964, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PRO- VISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFOIRNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITES AND FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFLED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A CERTAIN QUESTIONS, PROPOSITIONS OR MEXSURES RELATING TO THE ELECTION OF MAYOR AND FOUR COUNCILMEN AND COMBI- NATION OF THE OFFICES OF CITY CLERK AND CITY TRmSURER. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of California, a regular general municipal election shall be held on the 14th day of April, 1964, for the election of three members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; and WmREAS, the City Council of said City also desires to submit to the qualified electors of said City at said election questions, propositions or measures relating to , (1) Election of Mayor and four Councilmen, and (2) Combination of the offices of the City Clerk and City Treasurer into one office, hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBA CALIFORNLA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to General Law Cities within said State, there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, on Tuesday, the 14th day of April, 1964, a regular general municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the purpose of electing three (3) members of the City Council, of said City for the full term of four years. SECTION 2. That said City Council pursuant to its right and authority so to do, does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby orderec submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular general munici- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 BO 11 12 13 3.4 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 A cross (4) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question or proposition. A cross (*) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question or proposition. SECTION 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein such as may be required by law to be used thereat. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, in- structed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conducted said election. SECTION 5. That the compensation of the persons hereinabove named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of EIGHTEEN DOLLARS ($18. OC for each Inspector, and FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00) for each judge and Clerk, for said election. The rental for each of such polling places where a charge is made, shall be the sum of : L -CIXNAT DOLLARS ($10. 00) for ssaid election. When required, the compensation of the Custodian of a building shall be FIVE DOLLARS for said election. SECTION 7. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven ofclock A. M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o’clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 8. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 9. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directel to give such further or additional notice of said election in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 10. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoptior of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of thecity Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. SECTION 11. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council this 21st day That this Resolution shall take effect immediately. of January, 1964.
