RESOLUTION NO. 1006
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD STATING
COUNCILfS FEELINGS REGARDING
PRESERVATION OF SHELL FISH IN THE
AREA OF THE AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON
AND REQUEST1 NG LEGISLATI ON IN
SUPPORT THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon located in the City of Carlsbad,
California, contains numerous varieties and types of shell fish, subject to ex-
tinction by unlimited taking; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad, California, and certain of the property
Iwners adjoining the lagoon have been unsuccessful in attempting to stop the
:ommercial taking of shell fish from the lagoon; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad is advised that the on1
nanner in which the taking of shell fish from the lagoon may be prohibited is
hrough action by the State Department of Fish and Game;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT. RESOLVED by the City Council of the City c
:arkbad that it does hereby state its feelings to the effect that it is highly
esirable to preserve the shell fish presently living within the area of the -4gua
[edionda Lagoon in the City of Carlsbad, and further that the said City Council
f the City of Carlsbad does hereby request that proper legislative steps be takei
3 modify State law to effect the preservation of said shell fish.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
arlsbad, at a regular meeting held on the 17th day of March, 1964, by the
)llowing vote, to wit:
