A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, URGING THAT A
SION TO THE ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSIOi'i
TO LOCATE THE NATIONAL ACCELERATOR LABORATORY IN THE SAN DIEGO AREA.
PRESENTATION BE PREPARED FOR SUBMIS-
WHEREAS, the San Diego Area can demonstrate qualification
under the criteria for accommodation of the Atomic Energy Commissio
proposed new National Accelerator Laboratory; and
WHEREAS , the environmental considerations in this section are
more greatly strengthened by one of the Nation's most advanced
research complexes supported by the University of California at
San Diego, San Diego State College, San Diego University, and
California Western University; and
WHEREAS, the political agencies in San Diego C3unty also
foster and support advanced research programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad that a presentation be prepared for submission to
the Atomic Energy Commission not later than June 15, 1965, and that
the Commission be asked to investigate and apprise itself of all
the advantages of locating the National Accelerator Laboratory in
the San Diego, California, area.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad, at an adjourned regular meeting held on June 9, 1965,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES : Councilmen Dunne, Atkinson, Hughes and Jardine
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAINED: Councilman
