HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-08-17; City Council; Resolution 1175I 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 131, 14 l5 16' 17 18 e I 1 WHEREAS, the introduction of bills in Congress this year brought about an end to the controversy between California and Arizona over the Colorado River, and represents a milestone in the csnlinuing development of the Pacific Southwest; and I I WHEREAS, this legislation was introduced by California's Senators Kuchel and Murphy, 34 California Congressmen and three Congressmen from Arizona, and is entitled the "Lower Colorado River Basin Project Act"; and I I WHEREAS, said legislation provides for authorization of the Central Arizona Project, protection of existing California uses, and! I I I I supplemental sources of water for the entire Colorado River Basin; a WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Mater District has vigorously suppor 1 an intensive examination by the Secretary of Interior of possible e 2o 21 22 -23 24 25 26 RESOLUTION NO. 1175 ed this farsighted legislation in the interests not only of Southern California but of the entire Pacific Southwest; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, that it favors the "Lower Colorado River Basin Project Act," and urges all other agencies to support this legislation when it is introduced. i I ASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting held on the 17th day of August, 1965, by the following vote, to wit: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, FAVORING LEGISLATION ENTITLED THE "LOWER COLORADO RIVER BASIN PROJECT ACT 'I . 28 29 NOES: None.
