HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-21; City Council; Resolution 1457VI 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. 1457 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF THE ISSUANCE IN 1969 OF A UNITED STATES POSTAGE STAMP COMMEMORATING THE 200th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE STATE OF CARLIFORNIA. WHEREAS, the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California will be celebrated in 1969; and WHEREAS, an event of such importance to the State of California should be memorialized in the issuance of a commemorative United States postage stamp; and WHEREAS, the United States Post Office Department, receives each year numerous requests for commemorative issues; and WHEREAS, a favorable response to a request for a stamp com- memorating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California could best be obtained by one single effort in which all interested cities and counties, of the State of California could join; and InlHEREAS, such an effort will be made late in December, 1967, in a presentation to be made by the Commemorative Stamp and Phila- telic Exhibit Committee of_San Diego's 200th Anniversary, Tnc.; MOM, THEREFORE, ^" -a "" . .- BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Carlsbad, as fol1 ows : d 1. Each city and county of the State of California is respect- fully urged to adopt a resolution supporting the cOncept of the issuance in 1969 of a United States postage stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California. 2. Each city and county is requested to forward its resolution to the City Clerk of the City of San Diego so that it may be includec in the presentation to be made to the United States Post Office lepartment by San Diego's, local committee to the end that the whole- iearted support of the various agencies in the State to the concept if a California commemorative stamp may be demonstrated.
