HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-06-03; City Council; Resolution 1625- I1 i I. 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 12 0 RESOLUTION NO.’ 1625 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD OPPOSING SB 1414 PROVIDING A GUARANTEED MINIMUM WAGE AND HOURS AND VACATION TIME FOR POLICEMEN The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolve WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad has previously reiterated its as follows: strong belief providing adequate compensation and fringe benefits to policemen, and would establish guarnateed minimum wages, hours and vacation time for policemen, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that all such goals are indeed commendable in some instances, that a state-wide enforcement would have a deleterious effect upon all of the communities in the state, and MHEREAS, this measure would strike at the very heart of home rule by imposing mandatory costs on local government, but clearly inject the legislature in the matters of purely local and internal concern. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad that the City Council is hereby strongly opposed to SB 1414 and urges its defeat. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to Senator James Mills, Assemblyman Wadie Deddeh and to all members of the San Diego County Legislative Delegation and to the legislative bodies of all municipalities of San Diego County. City Council held June 3, 1969, by the following vote, to wit: WHEREAS, the City Council concurs in the goals of SB 1414 which PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the AYES : Councilmen Dunne, Neiswender, Jardine and Castro NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAINED: Councilman /----- Mayor of the City of Carlsbad Carlsbad, California ATTEST: CERTIFICATE OF CITY CLERK I, MARGARET E.
