I 13' i 333 BY THE LEGISLATURE OF' THE STATE-OF CALIFORNIA I of the State of California; and WHEREAS, such Senate Bill rcrould, if enacted, remove policeme and firemen from the provisions of the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, Government Code Sections 3500, et seq.; and UHEREAS, said Senate Bill Mould impose compulsory and binding arbitration of wages, hours and other conditions of employ- ment for policement and firemen; and 15i 16! I I l7'1 effecting a drastic and unjustifiable change in a vital principle 1 I not elected or appointed within the framework of government process and not responsive to the desires of tke electorate, thereby l81 20' 21 22 l9 i I of democratic government; and WHEREAS, the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, now in force, provides an effective and binding procedure, within the framework of govern- ment, for meeting, conferring and arriving at a mutually satisfactor agreement between government employers and employees in the event 251 26! i 271 i 28 ~ 29' I are available with respect to policemen and firemen and all other governmental employees without regard to arbitrary classification or distinction; NOM, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLYED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD: --. h 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 la 12 12 3.4 15 If 3.7 1E 15 2c 21 2; 2; 2f 2: 2t 2‘ 21 2‘ 31 3 3 0 That the City of Carlsbad is strongly opposed to the nactment of Senate Bill 333 for the reasons hereinabove cites; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and is ereby directed to send copies of this resolution to the Honorable onald Regan, Governor of the State of California, the Honorable lair W. Burgener, State Senator, and to the Honorable John Stull, tate Assemblyman. PASSED, APPROYED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the :arlsbad City Council held on the 4th day of May, 1971, by the ‘allowing vote, to wit: AYES : NOES : None.
