Review and certify all city contracts, agreements and legal documents. The City Attorney shall be paid additional compensation, based upon the current schedule recommended by the San Diego County Bar Associa- tion, when required to perform the following additional services: 1. Services in connection with actual or pending litigation including appearances in court and out of court preparation for such litigation. No Court litigation involving substantial costs shall be initiated without the approval of the Council, and 2. Other additional services subject to the approval of the Council. SECTION 4. The City Attorney shall be reimbursed for all specific per- sonal expenses incurred in the performance of his duties, including mileage, -1- RESOLUTION NO. 1871 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD PERTAINING TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY ATTORNEY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD DOES RESOLVE AS F 0 LLO WS: SECTION I. The City Attorney shall receive as compensation such sum as may be fixed by the City Council in adopting the annual budget, payable at the same time and in the same manner as other employees of the City. SECTION 2. For said compensation, the City Attorney shall perform the following duties and services: 1. Attend all meetings of the City Council. 2. Keep the City Council informed as to all legislation affecting the City Government . 3. Render legal opinions when requested by the City Council or the City Manager . 4. Supply legal advice to the various City department heads. 5. Attend designated meetings of boards, commissions and committees of the City. 6. The Attorney shall maintain adequate books of account relative to City employment. SECTION 6. All resolutions in conflict with this resolution be, and they are hereby, repealed to the extent of said inconsistency. SECTION 7, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this re- solution, and shall deliver a certified copy thereof to the said City Attorney. The foregoing Resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 16th day of November , 1971, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Counci lmen Dunne, McComas, Jardi ne and Lewi s.
