HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-04-18; City Council; Resolution 31121 2 3 4 5 6 7 E s 1c 11 12 12 14 1: 1( 17 1E 15 2( 2: 21 2: 21 2! 21 2' 21 2! 3( 3: 3 RESOLUTION NO. 3112 _I- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, URGING THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES TO ADOPT YEAR-ROUND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME WHEREAS, a high percentage of automobile accidents occur 3t dusk, the normal driving time home from work; and WHEREAS, the exposure to crimes of workers returning home from work is incr and WHEREAS, there is associated with energy and ased at the end of the daylight hours; increasing environmental concern generating sour'ces in the United States; WHEREAS, the change from standard time to daylight savings time back to standard time causes confusion nationally among the media, the public transportation systems, and the work schedules in business and industry; and WHEREAS, there is a universal need for more recreation and health-building time; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has before it proposed legislation introduced by Congressman Craig Hosmer (H.R. 2337 and H.R. 2338) which if enacted would provide for year-round daylight savings time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct; 2. That the Council respectfully requests and urges that the Congress of the United States adopt legislation which would provide year-round daylight savings time in the interest of the public health, safety, and general welfare; 3. That the City Clerk is instructed to send copies of this resolution to Congressman Clair.
