WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oogjen, Sr. have offered to donate to the City of Carlsbad the sum of $500.00 for the purpose of purchasing a piece of fire equipment to honor the memory of their son, the late Captain Frank Oogjen, Jr. of the Santa Ana Fire Department: and WHEREAS, an Extraction Kit is not now possessed by the Carlsbad Fire Department and is needed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Carlsbad that on behalf of a grateful citizenry, the offered donation of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oogjen, Sr. is accepted and the City Manager is authorized and directed to use such donation to purchase an Extraction Kit for use by the Carlsbad Fire Department. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, on the 5th day I of -- February , 1974, by the following vote, to wit: AYES : Cnn. (Staff Artist) Definition The Staff Artist prepares signs, posters, and displays, and illustrates brochures designed to promote library programs and materials; writes and disseminates library publicity for programs and exhibits. Examples of Duties 1, Prepares signs, posters and displays. * 2, Designs and executes decorations for holidays and special occasions. 3. Interprets staff requirements utilizing creative and imaginative concepts, Must consult librarians on specific projects. 4. Plans and supervises mounting of special exhibits 5. Designs and illustrates publications, such as book lists, bookmarks, and announcements. Must consult librarians requiring art work, , and maintains circulating exhibits. 6. Selects art materials and supplies. Must consult library business office, 7, Gather information and write publicity for news media, including spot announcements for radio, concern- 1 i brary programs and exhibits. Artistic abi 1 i ty ,cY:e,a tivi ty, imagination, and initiative are of prime importance for this position, They should be able to take an idea and convert it into a persua- sively attractive display which will be both eye- catching and informative. He should be able to work with neatness and reasonable speed. Should have a working * knowledge of a variety of artistic techniques,+including co17age, montage, and paper sculpture, as well as the mure conventional sign and poster media. They should be familiar with graphic art and be able to design and execute attractive publications such as bibliographies, bookmarks, and special announcements.
