The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolve s follows: WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad did on June 19, 1973, adopt esolution No. 3153 adopting a salary plan for the City for the 973-74 fiscal year; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 3153 dated une 19, 1973, is amended by the addition of the job classification SSISTANT TO THE PLANNING DIRECTOR, Salary Range 50, as set forth n Exhibit "A" attached and incorporated herein. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council f the City of Carlsbad, California, held March 19, 1974, by the ollowing vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Chase, McComas and Lewis. NOES: None ABSENT: None Carlsbad, California TTEST : SEAL) Resolution No. z.Tfd ,Exhibit "A" - 0 * . - CITY OF CARLSBAD ASSISTANT TO THE PLANNING DIRECTOR Definition Under general direction, to assist the Director of Planning En dArecting, coordinating and administering the activities of the department; to provide technical direction and advice on professional planning operations; and to do related work as required. . ,.i " Examples 1. Assigns, supervises and coordinates the work of of duties professional planners, draftsmen and clerical assistants. 2. Prepares and administers work schedules and projects. 3. Serves as technical advisor to citizen study committees, 4. Presents planning matters to the Planning Commission and the City Council. 5, Prepares drafts of new ordinances, amendments and master plan elements. 6, Administers difficult public relation problems, 7. Assists in the preparation and control of the department budget. 8. Participates in the technical work of the department by designating resources for data collection, performing the more difficult and complex planning work and analyses, and preparing general program guidelines, 9. Consults with public officials, City departments and other government agencies. 10. Writes reports and makes recommendations. 11, Supervises and participates in research, investiga- tions, and preparation of graphic materials, 12. Develops presentation methods and procedures. 13. Adopts basic physica1,economic and social data for planning purposes. 14. Presents policies and proposals to citizen groups and government officials. 15. Represents the department on major projects. 16. Trains and rates the work performance of subordinates, Employment Standards Equivalence to graduation from college with major work in planning or a closely related field, and four years of increasingly responsible professional experience in city and regional planning, including two years in a responsible supervisory or admlnlstrative position. 3/73
