HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-08-08; City Council; Resolution 3489I 2 3 4 5 6 7 a 9 10 11 32 13 14 15 l€ 17 1€ 1s 2c 23 2: 21 24 2f 2( 2: 2t z 3( 3: 3: ' RESOLUTION NO. 3489 f A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA CREATING AND ESTAB- LISHING THE CITIZENS AND PROFESSIONALS AD- VISORY COMMITTEE ON SEISMIC SAFETY AND GEOLOGIC HAZARDS WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad is required by Government Code Section 65302(F) to prepare and adopt a Seismic Safety Element of the General Plan; and WHEREAS, the purpose of establishing a Citizens and Profess- ionals Advisory Committee is to obtain maximum input into the formulation of the Seismic Safety Element; and MHEREAS, citizen, professional and agency consultation and advice is necessary to insure maximum coordination. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California: Section 1: According to Section 65304 of the Government Code, the Citizen and Professional Advisory Committee on Seismic Safety and Geologic Hazards is hereby established. Section 2: This Committee is hereby established to advise the City of Carlsbad in the formulation of a Seismic Safety Element. Membership shall consist of individuals having special interest and/or expertise in seismic safety or a related discipline Section 3: The overall goals and objectives of the committee are as follows: (1) To recognize seismic hazards and their possible effect on the Community; (2) To identify general goals for reducing seismic risk; (3) To make recommendations regarding the level or nature of acceptable risk; (4) To recommend seismic safety objectives for land use; (5) To recommend objectives for reducing seismic hazards as related to existing and new structures; (6) To make recommendations for seismic safety programs and pol i cies.
