RESOLUTION NO. 5022
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL F THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, TEMPORARILY CLOSING SEVERAL
STREETS IN THE ALGA ROAD-EL FUERTE STREET AREA
SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS.
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Bicycle Club, in conjunction with
she United States Cycling Federation and the Southern California
lycling Association, has requested that the City Council temporaril,
:lose certain City streets for local special bicycle races; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that such closing
is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to
ise those portions of the streets during the temporary closings;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
:ity of Carlsbad as follows:
1. That the above facts are true and correct.
2. That, pursuant to Section 21101 (e) of the California
7ehicle Code, the west half of El Fuerte Street from Luciernaga to
Iorintia; Corintia Street from El Fuerte to Alisma; Argonauta
;treet and Way from Corintia to Lucieunaga; Luciernaga Street from
irgonauta to Alisma; Alisma Street from Luciernaga to Urubu; Urubu
jtreet from Alisma to Luciernaga; and Luciernaga Street from Urubu
:o El Fuerte shall be temporarily closed for a local special event
In Saturday, May 21, 1977.
3. That the temporary closing, approved by this resolution
-s subject to the following conditions to meet the satisfaction of
:he City Manager prior to May 21, 1977:
A. Arrange for the City to provide any necessary signs,
Iarricades, and traffic cones in which the applicant must properly

B. Cash or a bond shall be deposited, guaranteeing a

C. Furnish written notification to all residents adjoining
)r in the immediate vicinity of, the closed streets.
D. Provide a list of all participants, accompanied by an
igreement from each participant and his parents releasing the City
from any liability in connection with the event.
E. A Certificate of Insurance against all liability naming
:he City as an "also insured" in the amount of at least $500,000.00

F. Arrangements shall be made for an Emergency Medical
'echnician to be in attendance at all times during the event.
