RESOLUTION NO. 5228
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
SITY NORTH COUNTY CENTER. IN SUPPORT OF SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVER-
MHEREAS, Northern San Diego County is experiencing a tre-
mendous population explosion; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that 85% of the growth in San Dieg
County is taking place in North County; and
WHEREAS, North San Diego County has some 4,000 students
attending San Diego State University on a regular basis; and
WHEREAS, these students are commuting on an average of
between 50 and 80 miles per day; and
WHEREAS, the San Diego State University campus suffers from
overcrowded classrooms and parking congestion; and
WHEREAS, all San Diego County students including the approxi
mately 20,000 students attending Mira Costa and Palomar Communitj
Colleges have no priority in acceptance at San Diego State Univer
sity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad endorses the concept of establishing a North
San Diego County Center where students may enroll in San Diego
State University upper division and graduate programs and receive
counseling services.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad at a regular meeting held the 4th day of October,
1977, by the following vote to wit:
