RESOLUTION NO. 5910
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF EMERGENCY HELICOPTER SERVICES FOR HEALTH SERVICES AREA 14.
MHEREAS, the County of San Diego has remote mountainous and desert areas
without reasonable access to vi tal lifesaving medical care; and
WHEREAS, San Diego County's rural back country areas attract thousands
of visi tors each weekend for recreational pursuits; and
WHEREAS, the Medical Center of the University of California at San Diego
has proposed creation of an Emergency Helicopter Service which would facilitate
reaching persons in need of emergency medical services in distant areas of the
County; and
WHEREAS, such an airborne emergency medical unit would be invaluable
in remote residential and recreational areas relatively inaccessible by
conventional means.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the City Council of the City of Carlsbad support in
pri nci ple the concept of Emergency He1 i copter Servi ces for Health Services
for Heal th Services Area 14.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 21st day of August, 1979,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Packard, Skotnicki and Councilwoman Casle
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Lewis ABSTAIN: Councilman Anear
