HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-01-15; City Council; Resolution 6060f - 11 1: 1; 1: 14 11 1( 1'; 1t 1s 2c 21 22 2? 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 6060 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6043, TO INCLUDE THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY AN ADVISORY QUESTION RELATING TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF STATE SALES TAX REVENUE. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of California, a General Municipal Election shall be held on April 8, 1980; and WHEREAS, the City Council did adopt Resolution No. 6043, calling and giving notice of the Election; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to submit an additional advisory measure to the qualified electors as hereinafter set forth; NOW, mEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, DOES HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Resolution No. 6043, Section 2., is hereby amended to include submission of the following advisory Measure: /I I/ /I /I /I 11 I/ I/ /I /I /I -1- f 11 1: 1; 1: 11 11 It 1: 1E 15 2c 21 22 22 24 25 26 27 28 "Should the Governor and the Legislature of the State of California be advised that: It is the will of the people of the City of Carlsbad that the Governor and the Legislature apportion the existing six cents sales and use tax so that two cents rather than the present one cent be allocated to be used by cities and counties for priority local services rather than by the State €or state services or to the state surplus. It is understood that if the Zovernor and the Legislature so act, any funds resulting therefrom qhich would cause the City to ex- 2eed a spending limit imposed by 3 vote of the people of the City If Carlsbad or the State shall be returned to the people or 2xpended for capital improvements, LS provided by law. Further, it is the will of :he people that the Governor and :he Legislature enact such alloca- :ion into law no later than the first of May, 1980 to avoid the mnecessary enactment by the people :hrough the initiative process to :ure legislative default." .
