HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-10-28; City Council; Resolution 6339c , 0 RESOLUTION NO. 6339 RESOLUTION OF INTENTIOR TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREB'IENT SYSTEM AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the participation of public agencies and their employees in the Public Employees' Retirement System by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the procedure by which said public agencies may elect to subject them- selves and their employees to amendments to said Law; and - WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend this contract is the adoption by the legislative body of the public agency of a resolu- tion giving notice of its intention to approve an amendment to said contract, which resolution shall contain a summary of the change proposed in said contract; and WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed change: To provide Section 21251 .I3 (2% 8 60 Full) due to Social Security termination, Section 20024.2 (One-year final . compensation), Section 21 263/21263.1 (Post-retirement ' survivor allowance), Section 21 298 (Increased non-industrial disability allowance), Section 21 380-21388 (19% Survivors Program), and Section 21 390 (Increased 1959 Survivod benefits), all for local miscellaneous members. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the governing body of the above agency gives, and it does hereby give notice of intention to approve an amendment to the contract between the said governing body and the Board of Administration of the Public Employees' Retirement System, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, as an "Exhibit" and by this reference made a part hereof. The fraction of final compensntion to bc provided for local miscel- laneous members for each year of .credited prior and current service shall be that provided in Section 21251.17 subject to the reduction provided therein for service on or after June t , 1950 and prior to December 31, 1930 for members \:hose service has been included in Federal Social Security. Public Agency shall contribute to said Rekireraent System as folls:.rs: a. With respect to miscellaneous members, the agency shall con- tribu tc the following percentages of nonthly salaries earned as miscellaneous members of said Retirenent System: (1) I 0.026 percent until June 30, 2000 on account of the liability for prior service benefits. 14.151 percent on account of the liability for current service benefits. (2) (3) 1.000 percent on account of the 1iabil.ity for the 1959 Survivor Program. - b. Vith respect to local safety members, thc agency shall contribute the following percentages of monthly salaries exrned as local safety members of said Retirement System: 0.018 percent until June 30, 2000 on account of the liability for prior service benefits. 17.868 percent on account of the liabjlity for current service benefits. 0.500 percent on account of the li.;?bi.lity for the 1959 Survivor Program. c.
