RESOLUTION NO. 6707
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION, TO PREPARE AN INITIAL STUDY ON THE WIDEN-
ING OF THE PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD BRIDGE OVER INTERSTATE 5
WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad is developing along the prime arterial of
Palomar Airport Road; and
WHEREAS, vehicular traffic using the Palomar Airport Road Bridge over
Interstate 5 (hereinafter referred to as "Bridge") is rapidly increasing; and
WHEREAS, the present two lane Bridge will undoubtedly prove inadequate
for the future needs of the pr me arterial of Palomar Airport Road; and
WHEREAS, the City Counci has recognized the need for this Bridge to be
widened and has included it in the City's Five-Year Capital Improvement Program;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it is necessary and in the public inter.
est to initiate a study of the widening of the Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Transportation, has agreed
for a sum of $10,000, to perform an "Initial Report" on the widening of the
Bridge; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide the State with a resolution requesting
said study;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The City Council of the City of Carlsbad hereby requests the State of
California to perform an "Initial Study" of the widening of the Bridge at a cost
of $1 0,000.

of the City of Carlsbad, held the 3rd day of Noiwrnber , 1981,
by the following vote, to wit:
